BYPASS

Public art project:Alna Bydel Oslo

Materials: collected textiles

Bypass project aimed to visualize Groruddal´s creative potential.

A tunnel under a motorway bypass bridge was transformed from waste land to an informal performance arena.

In order to mark the opening of this arena, participants from Groruddalen collected textiles from members of their own social networks. These textiles were then reused to decorate trees lining a small path leading down to the newly constructed stage.

Invited guests performed during the official opening

Merete Mongstad,  Wolverine and Grorud Male Choir.

During the varied music performance VJ Ernst projected images from Helen Eriksen´s project documentation and live text messages from the public.

This accessible and unguarded stage gave passersby the continued possibility of performing with or without an audience for the next twelve months.
