Memorial park for the victims of terrorism on 22 July 2011

In  collaboration with Ann-Charlotte Horgen

Ann-Charlotte and I were invited to propose a memorial space in Tordenskiølds park, Trondheim.

Tear Catcher is the signature work in the memorial park.

The place of memorial is planned as a place for mourning, and reflection, learning and dialogue and activity as well as calm.  The memorial place is to be a positive element in Trondheim.  Our point of departure was to create an attractive and flexible park with an indentity marker "Tear Catcher" that would contribute to both the aesthetic quality of place whilst at the same time creating an identity of place.  Tear Catcher´s symbolism is unviersal and can seen as a symbol of mourning either alone or in a social group.

Minnestedet har som mål å være et sted for å minnes det som hendte 22 juli 2011. Et sted med plass til sorgbearbeiding og refleksjon, læring og dialog, aktivitet og ro. Minnestedet skal oppleves som et positivt bidrag til Trondheim by.  Vårt utgangspunkt har vært å skape

en tiltalende og fleksibel park i byen hvor et forståelig identitetskapende element, Tårefanger

bidrar til stedets identitet og kvalitet. Tårefangers symbolikk er universell og knyttes til sorgbearbeiding enten alene eller i et sosialt fellesskap.
